Sustainability & Social Value

our commitment to social value

At PJS Brickwork we’re proud to play an active role in supporting our communities, developing future talent and giving something back to the industry that’s given so much to us. For us, social value isn’t just a target – it’s part of who we are. From apprenticeship opportunities and education partnerships to charity work and grassroots sponsorships, we believe in helping people grow, both personally and professionally.

Inspiring the Next Generation

We’ve proudly supported several initiatives across the North East aimed at encouraging young people to explore careers in construction.

Alongside GMI Construction Group PLC, we helped deliver the region’s first Construction Cares DIY Workshops at Middlesbrough College. Giving learners hands-on experience in joinery, bricklaying, plumbing, and electrical work. The sessions were a huge success, inspiring students to develop practical skills and discover the opportunities construction can offer.

We’ve also teamed up with Robertson Homes and East Durham College through the Developing Futures Programme. This partnership creates new apprenticeships each year, providing young people with valuable on-site experience, masterclasses and mentoring from industry professionals. Two of our latest apprentices, Ethan Slack and MacKenzie Armstrong joined us through this fantastic initiative.

Working with Willmott Dixon and Darlington College, we’ve also supported an innovative apprenticeship challenge. Students were set a one-week practical project, with the most promising participants offered work experience and, ultimately, bricklaying apprenticeships with PJS. After a successful first year, we’re delighted to continue this journey into 2025/26, helping more young people take their first steps in construction.

Supporting Our Communities

Community involvement is at the heart of what we do.
Working again with GMI Construction, we were delighted to volunteer at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAA) depot — helping to form a new door opening and improve the facility. Our lads did a fantastic job, and it was a privilege to support such a vital emergency service.

Since 2022, we’ve also been proud sponsors of Norton and Stockton Ancients Juniors, supporting them from their Under 8s through to Under 11s. Our sponsorship has helped provide new kits, jackets and equipment. Giving young players the tools to enjoy the game and grow in confidence.

Beyond football, we’ve contributed to a wide range of charitable causes; from local food bank appeals and charity boxing nights to golf days and construction industry fundraising events. Our own Jack Vickers is even running the Great North Run 2026 in aid of the Stroke Association.

Building Strong Foundations for the Future

At PJS Brickwork we take pride in our craft, our people and our community.
Whether it’s developing apprentices, supporting local sports, or lending a hand to vital charities; we’re committed to creating long-lasting social value. Building not just structures, but stronger futures for everyone.
